Observation and Reflection from a Typhoon

The MTR Corporation was criticized for poor emergency management on 23rd after hundreds of passengers were stranded in trains overnight because of Typhoon Vicente destroyed Hong Kong.

The railway operator stopped commuter-loaded trains on the East Rail line after a tree fell on an overhead power cable near the Tai Po Market station, shortly after the Hong Kong Observatory issued the No. 9Northeast Gale or Storm Signal.

In this case, hundreds of passengers had to linger around on trains or in station halls whole night. Commuters were dissatisfied that the MTR Corporation’s arrangements and they also criticized the rail operator for not arranging buses to take them to their destinations.

On the other hand, MTR Corp operation director Adi Lau Tin-shing said stopped train services in that time was to ensure commuters’ safety.

Lawmaker Andrew Cheng Kar-foo, chairman of the Legislative Council transport affairs panel, also criticized the MTR’s emergency plans were insufficient.

Taking into consideration from both sides of the arguments, I hold the view that the MTR’s staffs must to ensure the passengers’ safety. In severe weather, most of the public transport will stop service. If the MTR Corp arrange coaches or vans to take stranded passengers to their destination, there will be easy to cause the traffic accidents. Also, if the Hong Kong Observatory issue the No.8 or above, the insurance company will not to bear the responsibility for the traffic accidents. Therefore, I opine that the MTR Corporation’s decision was corrected.

Yet, many commuters felt angry that they need to stay whole night on trains or in stations hall. That is very normal. Nevertheless, that was an accident and no one would know a tree fell on an overhead power cable and the East Rail line need to stop service. Regarding of this, I hope the commuters not just put all the responsibilities to the MTR Corp.

Hope that that case will not occur again.

Cooking, Food and Love

I love cooking as I like savoring various kinds of foods. I learn cooking from my mum. She teaches me all the things about cooking, from cooking knowledge to cooking techniques. Also, I read some cookery books myself and try to follow them step by step in my leisure time. My mum is great at cooking!! Without doubt, she can make all the foods are incredibly delicious.

On weekends, my mum and I always make some foods such as Sushi, Kim chi, cookie, salad, etc. I will do some preparations; for instance, search some recipes on the internet. I am very enjoy that we can have a great time to cook together.

Last Father’s Day, my sister and I prepared a meal for my dad. We cooked some dishes such as curry chicken. We
went to the market and bought the ingredients and do some sort of preparations before that day. Although it was not difficult to make it and the taste was not very nice, we were cook with heart.

My mum prepared the lunch box for me when I went to school. And some of my classmates were very jealous. ^^

Cooking is a good way to show our love to our family and friends. It is because he or she can feel our concern from the food. If you want to express your love to them, you can try to make a meal instead of buy the present.

Next time, my mum and I will try to make a birthday cake to my sister. I hope we can make it successfully and the taste will be good!! I am looking forward to it!

My Learning Experience - Joy and Challenges

After reading the news about two visually impaired students overcome their difficulties, sheer perseverance and determination, who achieved outstanding results in this year’s A- level. I have lots of feeling.

In the past five years of study, I admit that I didn’t work very hard on my work. As reminded by most of our teachers that we should work harder and do more revision as the time is running short and we have to sit for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary School Education. In fact, I am understood that teachers are good for us. However, we didn’t make the best use of time to do the best and always very lazy.

In the junior form, I didn’t have so much pressure in my learning career. Therefore, that was my happiest time of my study.

However, in the senior form, everything had changed. We always had a test on every subject and got many homework to do. Thence, we had to always prepare well ourselves to tackle the challenges every day.

I am very weak at Chinese History and always failed in the test. In the last examination, I spent most of the time and study very hard on it. I had revision about three hours every night and the result of the test was pass. Some of my friends, including my parents, think it was a miracle. But I believe it was my perseverance that helps me pass in this exam.

I am very admire the two visually impaired students, their hard learning process taught me a lot.Although learning will make you feel exhausted, but you will get a good result and a great sense of achievement after you pay.

Time flies! We still have a few months for having HKDSE. No pain, no gain. Nothing is impossible if we are determined. All things are easy that are done willingly. I hope I can work harder and do more revision in this summer.

My First Encounter with African Culture - Music and Dance

This was my first time to play African Drum. The school has been invited a team to share African Culture, music and dance.

At the beginning, I think the drum just drives me nuts cos the sound is very annoying. But when I tried to play it, I have another feeling of it. I opine that playing drum can make me relax as I can let out my pressure on it.

Then, one of the teacher - Mr. Wu and our principal be invited joining the group to dance. We all were very surprised and excited because they dance very well.

This activity can made me understand happy is very simple, not necessary enjoy the material life to get a simple life. Although African were very poor, even so they through playing drum, dancing can much more close with each other.

My life is very complex and I made and am keeping it complex, I don't mind that complexity.  But I know people who can keep it quite simple and are very happy about it.

Time is running out short. Therefore, we should try our best to study hard deal with our public examination – HKDSE.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
